Fall Wedding Service & Reception at Canterbury Castle in Lake Orion MI.
This is the wedding album design for Adam and Talia from their fall wedding at Canterbury Castle in Lake Orion. It was a gorgeous fall day when we started our pictures at the castle’s chapel. They did their first look before the service because of the timing of how the day was going to unfold. They knew that after the service they would not have nearly enough light to do their group shots and fun pictures around the grounds. As we press into fall, the sun goes down earlier and trying to work out the timing for cocktail hour and dinner sometimes changes the way the schedule plays out. Talia chose to do their first look beforehand and take advantage of our good light.
The service was held inside Canterbury Castle Chapel. It’s a beautiful venue and everyone was excited to see the couple get married and exchange vows. We had a beautiful event to photograph. Our couple had been together for many years and wanted to make things official and we love these kind of wedding stories!
The Party at Canterbury Castle in Lake Orion MI
The party started off with the grand entrance into the reception and some well thought out toasts by the maid of honor and best man. It’s fun to hear the stories when friends share them at the wedding. When we get to know the couple before the wedding they’ll share some things with us but long time friends usually have a whole different take on things. This was really fun!
After dinner the couple cut their cake and headed for the dance floor. It was a beautiful evening. They had their first dance in the lobby with all the guests above looking down. It is interesting because the picture that Canterbury Village shows in their office is one we took a couple of years ago during COVID when everyone had to socially distance. We gave them a copy of the print to hang on their wall and we have had many requests for it since.
The party raged on with a fabulous energy in the air. It was such a great feeling to be amongst this group as they shared this special day with their closest friends and family. We can’t wait for our next wedding at Canterbury Castle.

We would like to say a bit about our wedding design process. After a wedding is photographed we post the proofs to our web for client review. They then will have the opportunity to narrow down the photos from the wedding. As for this beautiful fall wedding we see that they picked some very nice images from the point of getting ready as well as the service. What we don’t see are many detail photos we took for the event. Those images are in the proofs but did not make the final album design. This is really not a big deal because the album is designed to highlight the main images that the client wants in their book. We have all see the wedding albums of our friends where they dump all kinds of redundant and lesser images into the book. They are like an unedited video reel where the camera never shuts down and who wants to watch every reader in a mass walk up and back from the lectern? Edit that stuff out!
We treat the wedding album designs the say way. Focus on the highlights and the best of a series and put those images in the album design. In the case of this family farm wedding we took lots other shots of guests and details that are interesting but not necessary to tell the main story.
