Kim & Steve’s wedding at Strawberry Lake Lodge Pinckney MI, A Wonderful Wedding On The Lake

Kim and Steve were married at the historic Strawberry Lake Lodge in Pinckney, Michigan. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for an outdoor waterfront celebration, and everyone was in high spirits to see this wonderful couple tie the knot!

Strawberry Lake Lodge formerly operated as a charming bed and breakfast, and the estate has successfully hosted beautiful weddings for many years. It offers an idyllic, picture-perfect setting for couples looking to exchange their vows directly overlooking the water.

While the couple and their closest friends put the finishing touches on getting ready inside, guests were being seated out on the lawn. Moments later, Kim beautifully emerged down the pathway as her groom watched her approach with emotional excitement.

The ceremony was conducted by a close family friend who did a fabulous job tailoring the service. Lasting about 15 minutes, the ceremony included several touching moments remembering exactly how the couple first met and started their journey together. It was incredibly moving to witness their story and see firsthand how their deep love and friendship were formed.

Following the ceremony, we spent about 15 minutes gathering the family together for formal portraits. The afternoon sun was filtering directly through the mature trees, creating a highly challenging lighting situation across everyone’s faces and attire.

Speckled sunlight is notoriously tricky for wedding photographers because it casts a harsh, variable pattern of bright hot-spots and deep shadows. If it isn’t handled correctly with professional lighting techniques, it can easily ruin a portrait. As you can see from their gallery, our team balanced the contrast beautifully, and the final results turned out spectacular!

While the guests moved to the patio to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, we explored the rest of the lakefront property to capture romantic couples’ portraits. Though we weren’t scheduled to cover the reception past the cake cutting, we made sure to slip into the ballroom early to document a few gorgeous room details and decor elements for them.
