Founded in 1976 by Rina Tonon and her late husband Adriano on the site of a former apple orchard, Café Cortina has blossomed into one of Metro Detroit’s most legendary culinary landmarks. For nearly 50 years, this “best-kept secret” has hosted everything from intimate family gatherings to celebrity diners, all drawn by some of the finest Northern Italian cuisine in the region.
As a wedding venue, it offers a transportive experience reminiscent of an Italian vineyard. While the restaurant is perfect for intimate “micro” weddings of 20 guests, it can accommodate up to 150 to 185 guests depending on the room configuration. Couples can choose between private indoor dining rooms or a full restaurant buyout for larger celebrations.
The venue’s heart is its lush back patio and gardens, where couples often exchange vows in front of a romantic outdoor fireplace. Whether you’re dancing under the stars on a clear Michigan evening or enjoying the cozy indoor fireplace during a rainy-day ceremony, the garden-to-table dining and European hospitality ensure an unforgettable celebration.
