Wedding & Reception at Lovett Hall Greenfield Village Dearborn MI
Kira & Seth were married at Lovett Hall in Greenfield Village Dearborn Michigan on a gorgeous summer day. We met up with the couple before the service with the ladies upstairs in their dressing room, the men downstairs are theirs. We split up so we could cover both angles. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits as the bride put the finishing touches on jewelry and dress. Their first look took place in the Ginger Meyer Memorial Garden at Greenfield Village. We positioned ourselves and a couple of angles to try to keep out of each other’s photos while our bride stepped into view. It was a beautiful moment! There was a pretty stiff breeze which made taking photographs at certain angles quite challenging. In a case like that you have to position the couple so that her hair doesn’t blow back over her face.
We got into the museum about 20 minutes before closing and had to really hustle to get as many photos as we could while the staff was politely shoeing us out. In spite of being pushed along, we managed to get some very pretty images around the museum. The couple met the bridal party upstairs in love at all as they gathered for their service. Probably one of the more challenging images we were asked to accomplish was a shot with the bride and groom in a mirror with the bridal party holding it and standing behind. This is an extremely challenging lighting situation and I think we pulled it off well. It took a few tries but this is very tricky stuff. The problem is not to overexpose the group while having the couple “float” inside the mirror. If you want to have some fun as a photographer, you should have a crack at trying to light this. It’s a lot of fun and very rewarding to see it come to fruition.
The Wedding Service in the Lovett Hall Lobby
When everyone was seated downstairs in Lovett Hall the service began. Kira came down the grand staircase with her father to everyone’s delight! It was a beautiful short service conducted by one of their close friends. Afterwards we took our family photos and then got ready for cocktail hour and introductions.
The party in Lovett Hall Grand Ballroom
It was a lovely dinner for the guests and from what we heard, it was delicious. We prepared our equipment for their first dance after dinner and we’re not disappointed in the look of the room. They took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. I would like to call attention to the dimensional lighting that is used. It’s very tricky not to flood a scene with light. Many photographers will take a simpler approach but not one that does not produce this kind of dimensional results. I think you’ll agree that when lit properly, it is a stunning space to work in. It’s a stunning space for a couple to host their wedding. Our role is to capture it to the best of our ability and really highlight the space.
As the evening pressed on we concentrated on candid photos of people dancing and having a good time. Kira changed into a beautiful party dress and reemerged onto the dance floor to the surprise and delight of the guests. Toward the end of the evening we went outside for a few night photos that turned out really pretty. As we were wrapping up our coverage Kira’s mom reminded us of a picture the bride had her heart set on. It’s a photograph looking down on a head table setup of the invitation, newspaper, dessert plate and other various items. It’s a really fun picture and one that we’re glad to have gotten for her.
Looking Forward In time
We hope you enjoy the pictures from this gorgeous Lovett Hall wedding and such a wonderful couple! We wish them the very best life has to offer and hope they enjoy the pictures over the years as much as we enjoy taking them for them.
