Intimate Stone Chalet Ann Arbor Wedding Reception: Faiza & Ian
An Elegant Public Celebration
A few days after exchanging vows in a private, intimate ceremony, Faiza and Ian invited their closest family and friends to celebrate their union at the historic Stone Chalet Bed and Breakfast Inn. The day felt deeply personal, honoring both their fresh commitment to one another and the rich cultural traditions of Faizaโs heritage. Even though this was a winter event every corner of the manicured property provided a stunning backdrop for this elegant, relaxed milestone.ย

Getting Ready & The Details
We caught up with the couple as they prepared for the eveningโs festivities inside the venue’s uniquely themed suites. Faiza was a vision of timeless grace, wearing a traditional Indian wedding dress adorned with intricate, heavy gold jewelry. The vibrant colors of her attire contrasted beautifully against the warm wood tones of the estate. Ian looked incredibly handsome, sporting a sharp, well-tailored look that complemented Faizaโs regal ensemble. Capturing their final adjustments before meeting their guests highlighted the quiet anticipation of the day.

A Look Into the History of the Stone Chalet
What makes a reception at this venue so distinct is the storied past embedded in its walls. The main Swiss-style chalet was built in 1917 by Dr. Dean Myers using solid granite blocks cut from a local quarry. In a fun twist of historical fate, the homeโs street address is also 1917 Washtenaw Avenue.
The estate has evolved significantly over the past century:
- 1917โ1946: Served as a grand private family residence for the Myers family.
- 1946: Sold to the Unitarian Church, which initially held intimate congregations right inside the chalet’s living room.
- 1948: A parsonage building was added to the property to support church operations.
- 1956: The formal, mid-century modern sanctuary hall was completed by famous local architect George B. Brigham. The clean lines of this hall even drew a rare compliment from iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright!
- 1999: The property was purchased from the Unitarian Church by the Constantinov family. They are the ones who did the heavy lifting to structurally convert the estate, parsonage, and carriage house into a boutique Bed and Breakfast.
- 2022โPresent: Daisy and Vincent bought the estate. They have intentionally focused on keeping it a community-centric landmark, throwing micro-weddings and specialized theme events.ย
Portrait Perfection on the Property
Because the current owners keep the expansive grounds in pristine condition, finding premier photo spots was an absolute breeze. From the ivy-lined granite facades to the sun-drenched paths winding through the seasonal gardens, the estate radiates a quiet romance. We utilized the distinct blend of historic 1917 stonework and lush green landscaping to capture the couple’s joyful energy during their formal portraits.
The Celebration
The public party itself was full of warmth, laughter, and high energy. Free from the standard pressures of a tight wedding-day timeline, Faiza, Ian, and their guests spent the evening genuinely mingling, toasts echoing through the high ceilings of the event hall. It proved perfectly that you do not need a massive guest count to create an unforgettable, vibrant atmosphere.
