The Engagement in Royal Oak…

I was super excited to meet up with Jaclyn and Rob to photograph their engagement session. When Jacqueline called me about their wedding coming up I could tell on the phone she was a special person. There was an ease about the way she communicated and I had a sense that we were going to be friends.

She stopped by the office to talk with me about her wedding reception coming up at Cliff Bell’s Jazz Club in Detroit. I’ve always liked that club, the space is so interesting and the feel inside the club is that of an artist den. That’s probably the best way I can describe it having been there to listen to the music and enjoy a cocktail and some food. There is no question the wedding is going to be fantastic and the staff at the club is going to take great care of them.

On to Berkley…

For this engagement session, we met in Berkeley at the Berkley Commons Restaurant. The manager let us hang around and do some photos inside and out. I believe this was their first date and one of their favorite spots. Sad that we wait for it to reopen after covid-19 goes away. After some fun there they then took me over to Detroit School of Rock in Royal oak for some shots. Rob is a drummer and this is where he studied. It was a special place for them to be and we had a lot of fun!  Check out the little friend on top of the piano.

Downtown Detroit Engagement…

Our next stopping point was downtown Detroit in The BELT Alley and surrounding area. I love this space. Whoever thought this up and put it all together had an idea worth putting some energy into. The colors and the plants and the bricks. So much texture to work with.

After shooting their engagement session, I’m sure of one thing, we’re going to have a great time at their wedding reception.  You can also check out their micro wedding to make it official at Cranbrook Gardens in Bloomfield Hills here. I know they were sad being forced to move the wedding to next year but keeping a positive attitude about this whole thing seems to come naturally to the couple. I can’t wait to be a part of that special day.  All the best and stay safe.

We can’t wait for our next Royal Oak wedding!  Click here to see their wedding BLOG post…

In your journey to find great wedding photography we would invite you to go over and take a look at Rebecka and Clinton’s Grosse Pointe wedding.
